Flower Meanings – Flower Symbolism


In the Victorian era flowers and floral arrangements were used to send secret messages through their meanings, allowing people to express feelings they otherwise could not. The “language of flowers” also known as “floriography” was the dictionary by which these flower meanings were translated. The meanings may have changed slightly over time but the overall messages remain the same. Below you will find a list of flower names and meanings.

  Carnation meaning:The word carnation when translated means “flower of love” or “flower of the gods”. In general carnations express love, fascination and distinction. However, they are found in a number of colors, each having their own meaning.White: pure love and good luck
