Rose Meaning & Symbolizm


Roses symbolize love, passion and perfection. It’s name came from the Latin word “rosa” which means red. The rose has been a symbol of love since ancient times. It is also known as the birthday flower for June and is associated with the 15th wedding anniversary. Different colors of roses have different meanings associated with them. Below is a list of rose colors and their meanings.

Red Roses: True love, passion, respect, courage, I love you, beauty, pure and lovely, prosperity.

Black Roses: These roses do not exist in nature; they are actually just a very dark shade of either red, purple or maroon/burgundy. Black roses are more of a novelty item. They are sometimes said to symbolize death and mourning. If you want to deepen the color of a rose, place a dark rose in a vase of water mixed with black ink.

White Roses: Innocence, purity, secrecy, I am worthy of you, silence, friendship, truth, virtue, girlhood, humility spiritual love, but of the soul, reverence, charm, happy love and national symbol of England.

Yellow Roses: Joy, friendship, true love, decrease of love, jealousy, try to care, freedom, slighted love, shows “I care”, gladness

Lavender Roses: Love at first sight, enchantment

Peach Roses: Desire, gratitude, appreciation, admiration, sympathy, modesty

Thornless Roses: Love at first sight

Orange Roses: Fascination, display feeling of enthusiasm

Dark Pink Roses: Thankfulness, gratitude

Light Pink Roses: Grace, gladness, joy, perfect happiness, please believe me, gratitude, admiration, gentility

Blue Roses: Mystery, attaining the impossible
