We’ll be unveiling the entries over the next little while as we receive them. Here’s Denise’s entry. This is the story of a big proposal in the “big apple”.
For months before our engagement my now fiance Kevin had been saying he had a “plan.” I would ask if he had a ring, and when he replied “no” I would tell him he didn’t have a plan, he had a “pluh.” I was getting pretty impatient, and he was certainly feeling the pressure.
Over Easter weekend we had a trip to New York planned. Well, I had planned the entire trip because he isn’t much of a planner. On Friday we went to take a bike ride through Central Park, but the bike rental place was closed. We decided to walk. We saw the boat pond, the Alice in Wonderland statue, and Bethesda Fountain. As we walked down the mall some street performers were playing “La Vie en Rose,” and we were having a wonderful vacation.
At Columbus Circle we stopped to have gelato at Grom bedore heading for a ride on the carousel. After walking through Strawberry Fields I asked Kevin if we should go up by the Castle or just head back to the fountain before lunch at the Boathouse.
He somehow led me back to Bethesda Fountain, the whole time making it seem like my idea, so I really had no clue. We were sitting on the side of the fountain when he said, “You know how I keep saying I have a plan.” It didn’t register right away, but he then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I couldn’t believe it! I cried, he smiled, I cried some more, and we had an amazing trip.
