Hydrangea pairs beautifully with fresh lemon slices and coordinating ribbon in a tall cylindrical vase

Creating gorgeous DIY centerpieces is easier than you may think! There are may ways to put together arrangements that don’t require a huge outlay in know-how, but that provide major impact to dress the tables at your wedding or event.

Orange mums, orange and red lilies and sprigs of bouvardia pair well with fresh orange slices

One of the easiest and most creative ways to boost your DIY centerpieces is to use fresh fruit to embellish the final look. Fruit and flowers pair beautifully together, as both express the bounty and beauty of nature. Both are available in an array of vivid colors and shapes that can complement each other impeccably.

Yellow lilies, yellow roses, burgundy chrysanthemums, green button mums, red hypernicum berries or gaillardia would all look amazing with fresh red apples

Fresh apples can be a wonderful addition to a fall centerpiece, while fresh lemons, limes or oranges, sliced or whole, can provide great impact in a breezy summer arrangement. Fruit is especially useful if you are using clear vases as it hides the flower stems. Fruit is also budget-friendly! Adding some fruit isn’t expensive but is a memorable way to ensure you max out the guest compliments on the creative impact of your flower arrangements.

Orange ranunculus, white hyrdrangea, green chrysanthemums, white cymbidium orchids, and green hypernicum berries pair beautifully with fresh orange slices for a romantic yet modern look

There are a variety of flowers that pair well with fruits. If you are going for a feminine, romantic look you could opt for flowers such as roses, hydrangea, stephanotis, or ranuculus. If you want modern and clean, lilies and chrysanthemums can work wonders. You might want to avoid some of the “fussier” blooms if you are aiming for a casual, country vibe, and stick with flowers like gerberas or chrysanthemums. Use your creativity and most any flower can work with fruit if you keep the overall theme and impact in sync.

Cheery gerbera daisies with craspedia create huge impact with lime slices in a round vase

Your choice of glass container shape is up to you. You can insert a piece of floral foam in the centre to help secure the stems. You can then add the fruit (preferably close to the event time, to avoid browning). Take a little extra time to arrange it attractively in the container, to avoid gaps or uneven layering. Add water and enjoy your amazing DIY fruit and flower centerpiece!

As most of you know, Preston Bailey is one of the top wedding and event planners in the country, if not the world. (If we were to describe him in fancier terms, he is known as a “master event planner and floral couturier” according to Amazon). He is renowned for creative, over-the-top designs and his ability to transform even very ordinary venues into lush, theatrical spaces.

Photo from the Preston Bailey Blog

His client list includes celebrities, royalty, Fortune 500 CEO’s and athletes, with famous notables such as as Oprah Winfrey, Ivanka Trump, Joan Rivers, Jennifer Hudson and Catherine Zeta-Jones entrusting their special events to him.

He has written six books, five of which are bestsellers. His latest offering is entitled Preston Bailey: Flowers and it is a must-look if you are seeking amazing inspiration for your wedding or event flowers. The book is full of “eye candy” photos demonstrating some of Bailey’s most creative floral designs, from floral sculptures, centerpieces, arches, and lush tablescapes. The book also includes fascinating anecdotes from various celebrity events which also make for entertaining reading.

While there admittedly aren’t many of us who can afford the price tag of a Preston Bailey design, we can definitely flip through the pages of this stunning book and derive some tips and ideas to implement (in smaller scale) at our own venue. As Bailey himself states, “Regardless of its size or complexity, the perfect floral arrangement is the one that makes you stop for an instant and smile with surprise and delight.” We’ve gathered a few of the highlights for you to enjoy, with some BunchesDirect comparables. Enjoy!

Don’t forget the entrance. According to Bailey, this important area sets the tone for the entire event. Be sure to include some flowers or other decorative elements to embellish this area and any tables that are set up here. Some beautiful blooms in a vase is a simpler but very effective way to welcome your guests.

BunchesDirect has ready-to-go floral arrangements starting at only $15.95 US —you simply trim the stems to fit your vase and voila, enjoy the perfect look.

Don’t be afraid of vivid color combinations to create a lot of drama and impact. Yes, pink, red, and purple can go together. If those are colors you love, don’t be afraid to buy bulk flowers and create your own combination. If you love a vibrant mix of colors, you will love Heavenly Festival or Vibrant Blast bridal bouquets from BunchesDirect.

Get creative. The flowers can be part of the vase too! Shown here, Bailey created a vase covered with rose petals and filled with alstroemeria, both available in bulk at BunchesDirect. What a fantastic, and fantastically simple, DIY project!

Anything is better when covered with fresh flowers. Bailey himself admits, “I would decorate anything and everything I could get my hands on with flowers if I could.” The good news is that if you buy wholesale bulk flowers, you can get creative and still manage the budget.

Take note of these amazing Preston Bailey suggestions and get creative at your own wedding or event!

We are all eagerly awaiting the upcoming marriages of some of our favorite celebrities! Some top celebs became officially engaged over the past few months, and we can’t wait to see the gowns, the cakes, the venues, and of course (best of all), the flowers!

For fun, E! recently decided to provide their idea of the perfect dress for some of these celebrity bride-to-be’s. You can check out the E! article for the full scoop. We decided it would be even more fun if we also provided our picks for the perfect bridal bouquet to go with each look. We hope these wedding looks will inspire you with some ideas for your own special day. We are proud that any of these bouquets would look amazing with Let us know what you think!

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga announced her engagement to Taylor Kinney in February 2015 and shared photos of her lovely heart-shaped ring. Their wedding date remains unannounced, though Gaga has been changing up her look of late which prompts rumors that the big day may not be as far off as originally thought. E! selected this sleek tuxedo from Donatella Versace, or this beautiful Naeem Khan beaded gown.

BunchesDirect bouquet pick: Crimson Dream would provide a hit of the drama that Mother Monster loves, and would be a wonderful addition to either of these wedding outfits.

Crimson Dream Bouquet

Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara of Modern Family fame is engaged to hunky actor Joe Manganiello. Apparently wedding plans are underway for the happy couple and we can’t wait to see what this beautiful actress decides to wear on her wedding day. Sofia loves the strapless mermaid silhouette, so it’s little surprise that E! selected this Romona Keveza gown from the spring 2016 collection for the star’s ideal bridal look.

BunchesDirect bouquet picks: Classic White Orchid, or Pretty in White bridal bouquets would be perfect complements to any strapless, lacy gown.

Pretty in White

FKA Twigs

Recently engaged to Robert Pattinson of Twilight fame, and a singer/songwriter/dancer diva in her own right, Twigs walks to the beat of her own fashion drum and would probably opt out of the ultra-traditional look for either gown or flowers. E! selected this creative Alexander McQueen gown for Twigs and we love the unconventional detailing.

BunchesDirect bouquet pick: Stunning Princess, or Pink Passion bouquets would provide the exotic “wow” factor that might appeal to FKA Twigs for her special wedding day look.

Stunning Princess

Pink Passion

Zooey Deschanel

It’s been an exciting time for Zooey, with her first baby on the way and her January announcement of her engagement to baby daddy Jacob Pechenik. E! pictured Zooey in a stunning, tiered ball gown from Oscar de la Renta and we can definitely see Zooey rocking this feminine look.

BunchesDirect bouquet picks: The ultra feminine Fairytale Beauty, or the delicate Pink Doll bridal bouquets would look divine with this full-skirted ballgown.

Fairytale Beauty

 Courtney Cox

Let’s see if the second time is the charm for actress Courtney Cox, who starred in such hit shows as Friends and Cougar Town. Courtney was married to and divorced from fellow actor David Arquette, who has since re-married in his own right. Courtney became engaged to rocker Johnny McDaid at her best pal Jennifer Aniston’s house in September 2014. Apparently Courtney’s daughter Coco is helping plan the wedding. E! chose this elegant and slightly daring J. Mendel gown in blush pink as the perfect look for Courtney.

BunchesDirect bouquet picks: Fade into Me, or Peach and Pink bridal bouquets would both be lovely final touches to this gorgeous gown.

Saturday June 13 marked the day for another exciting Royal Wedding! Prince Carl Philip, 30, of Sweden married longtime girlfriend Sofia Hellqvist, 36, in the chapel at the royal palace in Stockholm. Sofia is a former reality star and model, now a bona fide member of the Swedish royal family and officially titled Princess Sofia. Prince Carl Philip is third in line to the throne behind his elder sister Crown Princess Victoria and her daughter Princess Estelle.

Sofia looked elegant and romantic in a white, v-neck dress with long lace sleeves and an empire waistline. The low back of the dress revealed the star-shaped tatoo she sports between her shoulder blades (definitely a more modern touch for a royal bride). Her cathedral length veil was secured with a diamond and emerald tiara, and her hair was elegantly arranged in a bun gathered low on her neck.

Prince Carl Philip is a military officer and, as if being a naval officer wasn’t swoon-worthy enough, a race car driver. He was a perfectly groomed “Prince Charming” in a black military dress tuxedo with a white hat.

Sofia and Prince Carl Philip wed in front of a select group of family and friends, including several other Royals such as his parents King Carl Gustaf IV and Queen Silvia, as well as royals from Norway, Japan, and England (shown above are Prince Edward and wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex). The official wedding portrait (below) shows all the distinguished VIP guests in their glittering finery.

During the ceremony Prince Carl Philip had a moment of apparent nerves and had difficulty placing the ring on Sofia’s finger—check out this cute video to see for yourself.

After the ceremony the fairytale couple greeted the crowd outside the palace while riding in (of course!) a horse-drawn carriage. They then returned to the palace to enjoy their reception along with 300 guests. The Prince made a speech to new wife Sofia that was heartfelt and simple, as he attested, “Today I am the happiest man in the world. Sofia, you fill my life with love and happiness. With your love I will be able to overcome all challenges. Dear Sofia, I love you.” Sofia had written a song for her husband which was performed by Molly Sanden.

The flowers were a gorgeous, romantic blend of white, pale pink, and various shades of peach. Sofia’s bridal bouquets were a perfect “Cinderella” choice of blooms such as varied roses, peonies, and ranunculus, She included floral arrangements on gold stands, and masses of the romantic blooms heaped behind the altar during the ceremony.
