BunchesDirect is very happy to announce its National Partnership with Brides Against Breast Cancer! Starting in July, 2015, BunchesDirect will provide free bridal bouquets for every gown purchased through this worthy cancer support initiative.

Brides Against Breast Cancer (BABC) is a non-profit organization that contributes to programs for cancer patients and their families. The BABC brings the “Nationwide Tour of Gowns” bridal shows to over 100 cities annually across the United States. The revenue generated at gown shows and events helps ensure that thousands of children and adults impacted by cancer have the support and education they need. Proceeds from the gown sales help fund the Health Support Network, which provides free online education, networking, and support programs for patients, families and caregivers impacted by cancer.

Brides-to-be, these shows provide you with a fantastic chance to find your dream gown at incredible savings, while supporting a great cause! The mobile bridal shows feature all brands of highly discounted, new and “gently worn” designer and couture wedding gowns for all shapes and sizes. Gowns are generally priced between $75 and $1800, with the average price being $600. BABC also runs a permanent bridal boutique in Sarasota, Florida offering hundreds of wedding gowns in various styles and sizes from 4 – 22. The boutique also offers bridal accessories like tiaras, veils, slips, jewelry and more.

Pretty in White Bridal Bouquet

To support this amazing cause, BunchesDirect is pleased to announce that for every dress sold over the next year, the purchaser will receive a free bridal bouquet  of their choice from BunchesDirect.com, up to a $100 value! Now you can save on a gown, and your wedding flowers. You’re welcome! Most importantly, we are all thrilled to help support this important cause in the fight against cancer.

When it comes to wedding and event flowers, the graceful calla lily is one of the most iconic choices. Lilies are a truly lovely addition to any floral arrangement.

Pink Calla Lily BunchesDirect

Native to South Africa, lilies are prized for their unique flower form. Their graceful, flaring trumpet shaped blooms provide an elegant touch to any bouquet or centerpiece. Their striking green leaves are a handsome element in their own right.

Calla lilies (sometimes called trumpet or arum lilies) are also versatile; they are a perfect complement to either modern, clean wedding themes or romantic and traditional décor. They come in different sizes, from larger blooms to miniature.  Many people think of white when they think of calla lilies, but they are available in many colours ranging from red to pink, yellow to orange, or even a dramatic dark purple. Their form has enough impact to stand alone, which means they can be a budgeting bride’s best friend, or they can be mixed with other blooms for even more impact.

Calla lilies are an excellent choice for the DIY bride or event planner. Twine lilies of any color artfully in a glass vase and you have an instant centerpiece that is surprisingly dramatic and effective. Their bright green stems only add to the visual impact.

BunchesDirect is always delighted when we receive some lovely photos and feedback from one of our many happy brides. We were so pleased when Ashley contacted us with thanks for her beautiful wedding flowers! Ashley is a savvy D-I-Y bride who used fresh bulk flowers from BunchesDirect to make her own bouquets and centerpieces for her amazing June wedding. Read on to get all the details!

Ashley and Johnny met on an online dating site, and hit it off instantly. Their relationship blossomed and over the next six years of dating they included not only Ashley’s two daughters and Johnny’s son from previous relationships, but welcomed a new son and daughter of their own. Johnny pulled off a romantic surprise proposal on Christmas Eve of 2013. During a gift exchange, Ashley was handed a gift wrapped in multiple layers which led to an empty ring box. Johnny produced another box, with the ring. He popped the big question, and a very surprised Ashley said yes. The kids were part of the proposal and their excited screaming and jumping added to the excitement of this very special memory.

The wedding took place on June 12, 2015, at the beautiful Belvoir Winery in Liberty, Missouri. Ashley had always wanted to have an outdoor wedding and the gazebo at the Belvoir estate clinched it for her. You can see how gorgeous the staircase was as Ashley made her grand entrance. Wedding photos were taken by Jim Powers Powersshots Wedding and Portrait Photography, from Overland Park, Kansas.

The wedding included 50 guests and three attendants on each side. Fifty guests were in attendance. Both Ashley and Johnny have large families, but Johnny’s is located over some distance; luckily two of his brothers were able to arrive and share the day.

The wedding colors were dark purple and white, as purple is Johnny’s favorite color. The white blooms were a beautiful contrast with the purple bridesmaid dresses. The boutonnieres were Dragon Ball Z figurines since Johnny and his brothers loved this cartoon.

Ashley’s sister Amanda was maid of honor, with her daughters Cheyenne and Lily as bridesmaids. Johnny’s brother Joey was best man, with his brother Adam and friend William as groomsmen. Their flower girl was their daughter Abigail, while their son Colton did duty as ring bearer. In a funny anecdote, Ashley relays that Colton had to use the rest room right before the ceremony began, and ended up going behind a tree; Ashley’s brother snapped a cute photo to immortalize the moment!

The cute wedding “cake” was fashioned from Rice Krispie treats and garnished with a sheer purple ribbon. What a fantastic idea! For the guest “book,” the couple opted to have guests sign wine corks (appropriate to the venue) which they then arranged in a lovely shadow box to commemorate the special day. Ashley’s brother-in-law Scott married them and got ordained just for the event, as it meant a lot to Ashley to have someone special who knew them well to help marry them—now that is dedication!

Ashely look gorgeous in her beautiful wedding gown with its lovely high bodice and scooped back. She had actually purchased another dress six months earlier though she hoped to make some improvements to it. One week before the wedding Ashley realized the dress wasn’t really going to give her the thrill she hoped for. Johnny encouraged a worried Ashley to go find the perfect gown (way to go, Johnny). Luckily she found the dress and was able to have it altered, with the finishing touches done just three days before the big event.

The wedding flowers were gorgeous! Ashley decided to make her own bouquets and centerpieces, using beautiful bulk flowers from BunchesDirect. She selected roses and carnations as these are affordable, while looking expensive (excellent choice, Ashley!). Ashley surfed on Pinterest and YouTube for some video tips (visit our BunchesDirect channel for great how-to-videos!) and relays that making the bouquets got easier with each one.

The flowers arrived on June 10 and after caring for the flowers, the crew got to work. Ashley, her sister and her mom made 12 centerpieces 4 bouquets and 1 toss bouquet (Ashley’s daughter made her own). They used floral tape, ribbons and pins to hold the blooms in place. Great job!

For the centerpieces, Ashley sourced water beads from Etsy, and submersible LED lights from Micheal’s. The vases she also found from Michael’s on clearance (amazing luck!) and the BunchesDirect flowers were cut to fit the height of the vase. Ashley and her team then arranged the roses and carnations in different colors to create the final gorgeous look. Simple, affordable, and stunning!

Ashley relays that having her kids being part of their wedding day made the event extra special, as did the speeches made by her sister and Johnny’s brother Joey, and having two of his brothers attend. Their goal was to have a fun and easygoing wedding that included children, so they even had a kids’ room with movies, coloring pages and snacks (love this idea). For them, their day was perfect. The BunchesDirect team was happy to lend a hand— we wish them all the best!

It was a wedding fit for a princess, and literally took place at a royal palace. On July 10, hotel heiress Nicky Hilton married European banking billionaire James Rothschild at the beautiful Kensington Palace in London. Kensington Palace is the current home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The wedding festivities kicked off with a supper Thursday at Spencer House in London, the residence of an ancestor of the late Princess Diana.

For her wedding day, Nicky, 31, wore a stunning $75,000 Valentino Haute Couture gown featuring a high neck, intricate lace, long sleeves and a gorgeous train.

She exited Claridge’s hotel with her father Rick Hilton en route to the wedding. And if you love Nicky’s regal bridal bouquet as much as we did, you will adore either a Vintage White or Pretty in White Bridal Bouquet from BunchesDirect (for hundreds less than what Nicky paid!)

Nicky paired the dress and her gorgeous white bouquet with a dramatic cathedral veil, channeling memories of other regal brides such as Grace Kelly or the Duchess of Cambridge. Her shoes were custom Christian Louboutin’s featuring her wedding date and “Mrs.Rothschild” embroidered on them.

Older sister Paris Hilton served as maid of honor, looking demure and lovely in a pale blue chiffon gown with a ruched bodice and gold belt. Mother Kathy also wore a pale blue dress with an embroidered skirt. Nicky’s extended family including her aunt Kyle Richards from Housewives of Beverly Hills were in attendance.

The ceremony took place in the Orangery, part of an outdoor garden on the palace grounds, in front of formally dressed family and friends. Guests included Naomi Campbell, Chelsea Clinton, and Kate Beckinsale, according to reports in Us Weekly.

Nicky was married before (briefly) to New York businessman Todd Meiser. That wedding was a quickie union at the Las Vegan Wedding Chapel, and the marriage only lasted three months. Let’s hope marriage number two is a better match!

Nicky and James are currently honeymooning in exotic Botswana. Nicky recently posted a photo on her Instagram account of an elephant encounter, though she looked calm and casual despite the proximity.

We loved Nicky’s fairytale English wedding and we wish she and James the best of health and happiness. Wealth? They have it covered! :)
