One of the most “delicious” flower and fashion trends of late is the move back to more berry and jewel tones for your color palette. The 2015 color of the year, after all, was a rich burgundy hue called Marsala and we are seeing variations of it everywhere from clothing to housewares.

From styledsealeddelivered.com.au

It’s easy to see why—these rich tones lend a lush and romantic vibe to any event and are especially suitable for weddings. Pair them with cool blues, pale greens, dramatic blacks or grays, and they will suit any event theme from traditional garden to modern with a Parisian twist. Berry tones will work their magic in any season or venue.

The top photo was taken from a midnight garden wedding designed by Julie Savage of Strawberry Milk Events.

As Julie describes, “In this look, everything is glamorous and elegant, yet achievable.”

Deep tones of red garden roses mixed with exotic purple anemones create this lush flowerscape. Both available at BunchesDirect.

Flowers in rich berry tones are perfect for any season, but add an extra element of warmth and drama to fall and winter weddings. The rich color of the flowers provides excellent contrast with a white wedding gown and traditional grey or black suits or tuxedos.  Berry tones pair especially well with gold or silver metallic accents. Below, pink alstroemeria blends beautifully with the gold sand in these simple mason jars.

Laura Yang and the Pastry Studio used beautiful berry-toned flowers including burgundy ranunculus to decorate their delicious chocolate cake, making it look a scrumptious as it tasted.

Even if you are short on time or short on DIY skills (or both), it’s still possible to pull together beautiful centerpieces for your party or event. With an array of gorgeous bulk flowers and some handy tips, your tables can shine (while you can relax!)

We’ve gathered some great inspiration and tips to help you make your flower decorations a snap, for a variety of popular styles.

Let the container set the tone and choose flowers accordingly. Choose large blooms such as garden roses, hydrangeas and peonies, which look stunning when simply arranged in a vintage serving vessel, such as a soup tureen. You could also use tea pots for the centerpieces, with tea cups for smaller arrangements on smaller table tops or at each guest place. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your choice of container: jelly molds, cake tins and even small ice buckets all make wonderful containers.

If you need something casual, and extremely simple, simply gather up some oranges, apples, lemons or other fruit. Determine how the fruit will naturally balance, and insert holes. Insert fun flowers that will suit the casual vibe, like chysanthemum or gerbera daisies. Use straws to help support the stems. Arrange on a lovely plate or cake stand and presto—instant wow factor.

Another fun centerpiece that incorporates fruit is this cute and “zesty” arrangement. Choose yellow alstroemeria (also known as Peruvian lilies) and arrange in a clear container with an assortment of small fruits such as lemons, key limes, or kumquats. The fruit pairs perfectly with the bright blooms, and you can have a gorgeous centerpieces in minutes!

For another casual take on centerpieces, choose one long, narrow box or packing crate. Purchase some bulk gerbera daisies and add some wheatgrass or other vibrant greens and create one long centerpiece down the middle of the table. Use extra gerberas to set at each place setting, Gerberas are available in bulk at BunchesDirect by the stem, or by the box, in a variety of cheery colors. Perfect for a birthday party, a bridal or baby shower!

Beautiful red carnations are very budget-friendly, but create amazing impact when placed in a rustic wooden salad bowl. It doesn’t get any easier than this, but what a gorgeous way to spice up your dinner party display.

Get your Perfect Flower Match!

Our BunchesDirect team is so excited! We have launched a new campaign on Kickstarter.com to produce Perfect Match Wedding Flowers!

Our talented floral consultants have received a lot of requests over the years, especially as BunchesDirect operates out of three countries. Many brides and event planners are looking for something very custom and entirely unique for their special day. Mother Nature provides us with a wide range of flower colors, but sometimes a certain shade just isn’t available. Occasionally our customers ask if we can provide flowers in unusual colors, flowers with glitter, two tone flowers, or other creative ideas for their bouquets, centerpieces, corsages or other florals. While some of these options are available with silk flowers, there is just nothing as beautiful as fresh flowers for special occasions.

Our team of professional florists put their heads together to evaluate how we might provide more unusual or custom colors in flowers. The team began experimenting with new ways to tint fresh flowers, and “Perfect Match” was born! With the Perfect Match service, wedding or event customers could send a swatch or color sample of their desired flower color and select the type of flower they prefer (such as roses). BunchesDirect will then tint the flowers to match the color sample! This means our customers would be able to purchase flowers in a virtually limitless range of hues and effects.

To achieve this, BunchesDirect wants to invest in the latest professional techniques for tinting fresh flowers, and in staff training to perfect the process for different types of blooms.

Photo from digitalphotoartistry.com

The Perfect Match service will be available to custom tint bridal bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, or centerpieces for weddings or events. Flowers can be matched to virtually any element of the decor; for example, you could match shoes, bridesmaids’ dresses, table linens or other special accents. This means your wedding or event flowers can now be custom made, and totally unique to your needs.

But we need your help to get things rolling! We launched a Kickstarter.com campaign with various levels of pledges available. Each pledge provides a completed color-matched product to the backer. Be part of creating a brand new way to customize flowers: funds will be used to help purchase the latest professional color technology flower treatments and to support the testing process required for perfecting the techniques. Costs of flowers and labor will also be addressed. Pledges range from $10 to $75 and every pledge gets you a custom colored flower product, such as a corsage or bouquet. For additional information please read the Press Release.

Check out the campaign on Kickstarter.com. Any support or input is much appreciated, and we would love to hear your creative ideas! Help us get the “Perfect Match” started and be part of something new and exciting in the floral industry.

When we think of boutonnieres, we invariably think of proms and weddings as these are the two primary occasions on which a man will agree to wear a flower as adornment. Boutonnieres, however, have a long and noble history of wear by men, and there are some modern day stylists who suggest that men should consider wearing boutonnieres more often for an additional dollup of style and panache (Antonio discusses this in his blog on the Art of Manliness).

In the past boutonnieres were worn by both soldiers and statesmen, and some debonair Hollywood stars sported them proudly on their suits as well. Boutonniere is derived from the French word for “buttonhole” and indeed this is where a boutonniere should traditionally be worn. In traditional or high-end suits, the lapel buttonhole will be open and solidly stitched, allowing it to support the weight of the flower. The boutonniere should be worn on the left side, higher than the man’s heart. Traditionally it consists of one primary flower. The flower typically symbolizes the fragility of life, or the beauty of love.

Boutonnieres should be chosen to help unify the couple; for a prom it should coordinate with the corsage and dress of the partner, for a wedding, with the bouquets and dresses of the bride and bridesmaids. The flower should also coordinate with the style and color of the suit being worn.

Classic White Carnation by BunchesDirect

Carnations are the most popular flower for boutonnieres in North America. They are a wonderful choice as they are hearty (and easy on the budget). The most formal color choice is white, with red a close second. Carnations are lighter and work well with most wedding themes. At BunchesDirect.com, carnation bouquets start at only $1.99.

Luxurious Rose by BunchesDirect

Roses are the next favorite choice and make a beautiful statement on a wedding day. For roses, professionally prepared boutonnieres are a safer choice, and you may want to ensure that if you are selecting a heavy or ornate boutonniere, that the suit will support it adequately.

Oath to You by BunchesDirect

You can also select less traditional flowers for more of a statement accent, especially if the bridesmaids have more unique bouquets. There are an array of lovely blooms that will make wonderful and stylish impact on a man’s suit.

Stand Out by BunchesDirect

BunchesDirect has an amazing variety of creative designs for boutonnieres; flowers such as daisies, button mums, gerberas, sunflowers, tulips, or lilies are all excellent potential choices. Click to browse all the designs.

Whatever you choose for the men of the hour, adding the stylish touch of a boutonniere will be a perfect finishing touch for your wedding or formal event. Boutonnieres can add a very important splash of color to coordinate the overall wedding palette. Guys, wear your boutonniere with pride and panache and you will ensure that you are looking good all day!
