A new year has arrived and with it, lots of new wedding ideas! We have collected some predictions from the pros so you can create your perfect wedding style. Say goodbye 2017…the new year is coming in with a bang!

Hanging Flowers

We started seeing this trend emerge last fall, but it’s really going to shine in 2018! Not only do hanging flowers provide a fantastic visual element to your decor, but they’re practical too. Instead of cluttering your table with garlands, they allow space for more important things like beautiful dinnerware and champagne. These arrangements look amazing if they’re kept a bit wild with hanging vines and a variety of brightly colored blooms.

Drama, Drama, Drama

Couples are leaning more towards the formal side of things this year, says wedding planner Nora Sheils of Bridal Bliss in the Pacific Northwest. This means rustic and casual decor is making room for tall flower centerpieces with lots of drama. Gone are the days of understated mason jar arrangements, brides want glamour with luxurious blooms in bold colors- don’t be shy!

Floral Updates

When thinking about your florals, don’t forget about what you will be displaying them in. The vases add character to your arrangement so be creative! Brides are using vintage vases, colored glass, geometric shapes and even concrete to show of their style this year.

Ultra Violet

The new Pantone colour of the year is Ultra Violet, and it’s going to be everywhere in wedding decor! Described as “inventive and imaginative, lighting the way to what is yet to come” by Leatrice Eiseman, Executive DIrector of the Pantone Institute, this is a bold color. You can find most flower varieties in a similar shade such as purple mini carnations and dahlias. Move over greenery, there’s a new kid in town.

But Greenery Still…

Greenery will still be present in a big way this year, just revamped. The trend is leaning more towards woodsy glam rather than rustic chic, says Taylor Green of Taylor Elise Events. Think wooden accents instead of burlap. Bohemian brides are also loving wreaths made of Eucalyptus and wild flowers as an alternative to traditional flowers. So don’t worry, greenery isn’t going anywhere anytime soon!

Pippa Middleton, sister to Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, rocketed to the top of the social media world for her first walk down the wedding aisle back in 2011. At that event she was maid of honor, holding her sister’s train and following the royal bride down the aisle, while spectators world wide started commentary on her — ahem–derrière.

This time in the spotlight, Pippa, 33, walked the aisle as the bride, and on May 20 she wed financier James Matthews at her local church, St. Mark’s in Englefield. The reception was held back at her parents’ lavish Berkshire home.

Some of her royal connections served in the wedding, with Prince George as page and Princess Charlotte as flower girl. Her sister Kate helped keep the children in order as they entered the church. The entry was adorned with gorgeous garlands of pink and white flowers and greens, adding the perfect fairy tale touch to the heritage venue.

The guest list, though much smaller than her sister’s, did contain some famous faces. Roger Federer was in attendance as well as Ben Fogle, and of course Pippa’s extended Royal family, including Prince William and Prince Harry.

The church and its grounds were absolutely filled with gorgeous pink and white flowers! Pippa loves flowers and made beautiful selections including peonies, roses, sweetpeas, freesias, waxflower, and green bellflowers for a truly stunning mix. Another intimate personal touch was a drawing of the church, done by her sister Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, included on the cover of the order of service.

The couple departed the ceremony is a vintage car, framed by yet more floral masterpieces that are visible in the background.

If you loved Pippa’s wedding flowers as much as we did, you can buy your own bulk flowers in similar shades and types and make your own. You can also order beautiful ready-made bouquets and centerpieces in a similar pink and white theme. See below for some ideas!

Patrick J. Adams, star of the popular legal drama Suits, wed actress Troaian Bellisario of Pretty Little Liars in a beautiful rustic ceremony in California.

Splash News Online

The handsome Hollywood duo tied the knot on December 10 in an outdoor oceanfront ceremony at Rancho Dos Pueblos. They had been engaged for three years.

Their 200 guests included Bellasario’s co-stars such as Lulu Brud and Keegan Alllen and Adams’ co-stars Brendan Hines. His rather famous co-star Meghan Markle did not attend but went shopping with a friend instead, due to her fears of overshadowing the newlyweds. (Due to Meghan’s romance with Prince Harry, she has been dogged by the paps for some weeks.)

Apparently the three-day event was “camping themed” and very boho. Patrick drove guests to the wedding himself in a vintage white bus.featuring a sign that read “almost married,”

Troaian wore a beautiful Cortana gown with a gold crown while Patrick wore a navy suit by Ralph Lauren. Troaian’s father is famous producer Donald Bellisario and was on hand to walk her down the aisle..Guests cheered when the pair were announced man and wife, and the happy couple headed to the beach for some wedding photos.

Their first dance was romantic and sweet and they are clearly over the moon with happiness. Instead of gifts the couple asked guests to donate to designated charities. Extra sweet!

One of the most popular wedding and event themes of the day is certainly “bohemian,” “shabby” or “vintage” chic.” It’s also one of our faves for flowers — this theme provides ample choice of flower type and color and lets you get especially creative with your choice of container or accents. This theme provides a relaxed and very pretty atmosphere at any wedding or event. We’ve gathered some great tips to help you plan.

Venues

Bohemian chic is suited to a variety of venues but seems especially appropriate for outdoor garden, woodland or rustic settings. The vibe should never be too stuffy or monochromatic and even if not outside, ideally your venue will contain natural element such as greenery, wood, and yes, lots of fresh flowers! The more flowers and greens the better to create a lush and layered “bohemian” look.

Flower Colors

Boho chic themes work in a variety of colors. You could go very bohemian and use rich jewel tones of all kinds, which cultivates a warm and liberated almost “carnival” atmosphere.

Shown left: Rich red calla lilies, orange dahlias, and bright yellow sunflowers combine with the dark blue lanterns and colorful woven table runners to create a visual feast.

Shades of pink and white with green or teal accents also work well with a boho theme, and a garden or woodland setting. Think antique dressers, woven hearts, vintage candlesticks, ropes of pearls,  and a lush, romantic vibe. Daisies, roses, hydrangeas and peonies would work well. Be sure to order plenty of flowers as they are a key component of  any boho event.

DIY Floral Accents

The more relaxed style of boho chic is perfect for the do-it-yourself type! Get creative and make your own centerpieces. This theme does not call for perfect and precise but let’s you express yourself in without fuss or formality.

Photo from TheKnot.com

The photo above shows you a simple DIY suggestion for some fabulous boho table centrepieces. Paint mason jars in various colors to suit your theme. Choose flowers like these beautiful plump dahlias and freesias in rich jewel tones, with sweet accents like the baby’s breath and the craspedia (also called “billy balls”). Mason jars of any kind are perfect for boho themes, and adding special touches like vintage books, antique mirrors, pretty candles, handmade cards. Flower Types: Baby’s breath, as we mentioned, is a wonderful and budget-friendly choice for any boho choc event! It works beautifully in centerpieces and when placed in popular boho containers such as wooden crates, drawers or mason jars.

Carnations and roses are other flower types that work especially well for boho events. They are pretty without being overly formal or fussy, depending on how you dress them.

Accents such as lace, burlap or wood pair especially well with these flowers too.

Audrina Patridge and longtime love Corey Bohan may have taken eight years to actually tie the knot, but it was worth the wait!

Jana Dillon Photography/AKM-GSI

Audrina and BMX bike rider Corey wed in beautiful Hawaii on Saturday, November 5 in an intimate celebration with 100 close friends and family. Their fourth-month old daughter Kirra was also part of the special day!

Audrina shone in a lacy mermaid gown custom made by Pallas Couture. . She wanted their day to be romantic yet with bohemian elements and her gown with its beautiful French chantilly lace and sheer skirt fit the theme perfectly. Corey paired khakis with a crisp white shirt and suspenders which certainly lent a more casual vibe to the event. Audrina used red flowers to adorn her hair. We also adored the beautiful archway decorated with rich red and  pink blooms such as roses, garden roses, and ranunculus woven with seeded eucalyptus and other greens. Guest threw flower petals in the air to celebrate their love. (Hint: you can purchase your own bulk rose petals online, create this romantic vibe, and save!)

The bridal bouquets were gorgeous! Created by Steven Boyle Designs, they worked perfectly with the “bohemian” vibe as well as the glorious Hawaiian wedding location. They were a lush, artful mix with a “freshly gathered” feel that kept them from being too fussy or formal, while still providing plenty of romance with their rich color scheme.

Morgan Childs of Moana Events helped organize the day and the couple’s fun reception afterward. A very happy Audrina relayed, “I was so nervous, but as soon as I saw all of our friends, family and Corey, all I could feel was happiness and love everywhere.”
