Vintage elegance is a wedding trend that seems to never go out of style. Something about antique lace, soft colours and statement jewellery evokes old school romance that can’t be beat!

In 2017, and moving into the 2018 wedding season, vintage brides are loving large blooms in muted or pastel colour tones. Think Garden Roses and Peonies in dusty pink, cream and green like our Morning Joy Bridal Bouquet. Pops of rich red wine hues can work too, especially if you’re planning on incorporating velvet into your decor.

Other soft petal flowers that can help create this look are Delphinium, Cornflowers and Dahlias. And don’t forget some of the classics like Baby’s Breath, Lavender and Carnations that all bridal bouquets had back in the day because of their low price tag. Our Pure Baby’s Breath Bridal Bouquet is a perfect choice.

Combine two of this years trends by adding greenery in muted tones such as Eucalyptus and Ruscus, and voila! The perfect bouquet for any vintage vixen. Opt for a cascading bouquet for added drama and use your grandmother’s favourite brooch or tie the stems with lace to complete the look.

Once you’ve chosen your varietals, make sure to display them in a way that’s true to your theme. Look for antique vases in different shapes and sizes, easily found at flea markets or garage sales. Be creative! Tea cups, jars or old planters make perfect flower holders and can add a touch of whimsy.

Don’t stop at your bouquets and centrepieces, using flowers in a wide variety of places is back in style too. Cake toppers made of Roses and Peonies or even edible blooms are classic.

It’s simple, to add vintage flair to your wedding day, pay attention to the details. The type of flowers you choose will impact your theme and which decade you want your guests to feel transported too. Flowers can add softness or drama, romance and flair. Ask your florist to help you pick the perfect blooms and watch your vintage dreams turn into wedded bliss!

Creating the perfect bridal look is all about balance. There are so many elements to a bridal look that it is important not to let one draw too much focus – unless, of course, that is your aim. The dress is often the focal point of any outfit, but some brides prefer to pull focus to the flowers, their hair, shoes, or choice of jewellery. The flowers that you are drawn to often say a lot about your bridal style, so it can be a good place to start when choosing your wedding jewellery. Follow our guide to choosing your ideal wedding bouquet for your big day, and how to pair it with the perfect jewellery.

Posy

The posy bouquet is probably one of the most classic wedding bouquets you will ever see. This small, round bouquet is often tied with ribbon and is made up of a variety of flowers. Some people also weave in highly personal elements. To match this classic style, reach for your family heirloom pearls and create the classic bridal look.

Hand-Tied

A hand-tied bouquet is the most relaxed of the bunch, and often favoured by distinctive brides who are looking to bring a boho-chic vibe to their wedding day. Hand-tied bouquets made up of wildflowers or flowers of different height and sizes look particularly stunning when pair with vintage jewellery in bold hues. Look for vintage styles such as art deco pieces or bring a touch of Great Gatsby glamour with an Edwardian bracelet set with sapphires or amethyst.

Cascade

A cascading bouquet is a dreamy flower arrangement that is perfect for anyone hoping for the classic fairy tale wedding. A cascading bouquet is often the focal point of your outfit, so you might want to opt for a discreet but classic pair of simple diamond earrings. If you’re particular about your jewellery, choose your own loose diamonds and have them set precisely as you want them for the ideal wedding jewellery look.

Composite

A composite bouquet is often made up of individual petals and results in a bouquet that looks like one giant flower. It is a more contemporary bouquet which is often monochromatic and classic in style. Complement this stunning arrangement with a delicate pendant necklace – perhaps something that has personal significance to you.

Round

The round bouquet is a variation of the posy bouquet, but instead of varying heights and sizes, the bouquet is a perfect circle shape. This can often be quite a large bouquet, so you can balance your look by adorning your hair with jewelry such as a classic tiara, or a delicate hair clip for the more conservative bride. Pearls, diamonds and precious gems will look amazing alongside this particular bridal bouquet.

“Flowers are the music of the ground. From earth’s lips spoken without sound” –Edwin Curran

Photo from Bridalguide.com

The origins of a bride carrying a bouquet of flowers can be traced back for centuries. Although the beginnings of the bridal bouquet are rather blurred, history has it that the custom initially stemmed from the bride’s need of concealing her body odor during her wedding day. In ancient Rome, flowers were symbolic of new beginnings, hope for fertility and fidelity.  Other customs had a different approach and would require brides to carry spices in lieu of flowers to ward off bad spirits.

However, in this time and age, wedding bouquets have a more symbolic significance behind it other than a makeshift deodorant or as an ornament used to ward off evil. Many may be under the impression that the bride’s wedding posies are purely for visual aesthetics—a lovely prop for photo sessions. But apart from painting a striking photograph of the bride on her wedding day, carrying one seems to prevent the bride from needlessly fidgeting with her fingers.

Considering all of these, it would appear that the bridal bouquet makes the spectacular complementing accessory to the bridal gown. In essence, if the bride were a cake, her floral bouquet would be her centerpiece which means thorough consideration is needed in selecting one. The kind of wedding bouquet a bride selects is a reflection of her personality as well as her style and a lot can be said about the kind of bouquets she chooses. Take a gander at the five favorite bouquet styles down below and see what it says about the type of bride you are.

1) Bohemian Chic Inspired Bouquet

Photo from happywedd.com

If you want something a little offbeat and probably a bit outlandish, a bohemian chic inspired bouquet is the perfect finishing touch to your wedding gown. Essentially, this would mean you are a free-spirited bride with an unbridled passion for nature, and your bouquet would likely spell that for you. Your ideal wedding is something that does not conform to society’s traditional norm but is one that you have probably thought of yourself. Romantic, vintage and ethereal are just three things that would describe your perfect wedding and more often than not, you are the sort of bride who has no regard for the rules and would rather make a bold statement than follow trends.

2.)    Modern Glamour Inspired Bouquets

Fancy White by BunchesDirect

Without question, you are the kind of bride who wants to go big or go home. Everything should be dramatic, glamorous and elegant with a touch of flair. You are the type of bride who would like to add a bit of sparkle in everything that you do to make a lasting impression, and your wedding would be just as sparkly and elegant. Everything about your wedding will be likely as extravagant as the bouquet you will be carrying

3.)    Wild Textured Inspired Bouquets

Photo from greenweddingshoes.com

More often than not, this is the choice of bouquets of brides who are chronic do-it-yourselfers. This bouquet is a combination of not only diverse flowers but would even include ferns, branches, colorful petals—all just to achieve that perfect wildflower wedding bouquet—a true expression of a bride who loves bringing the outdoors indoors.

4.)    Rustic Vintage Inspired Bouquets

Photo from chicvintagebrides.com

For the bride with a penchant for romance and a relaxed atmosphere, the rustic bouquet is ideal. This is for the bride who is incredibly low-key and low-maintenance and who would not mind shopping at thrift stores or even adding pre-loved pieces to her home and wardrobe. Her bouquet may even carry something incredibly personal to her such as a vintage brooch with sentimental value.

5.)    Classic Clean Inspired Bouquets

Photo from bouquetweddingflower.com

There is no other word to describe a bride who prefers this kind of bouquet other than traditional. For the brides who love to play by the rules and go by the books, their wedding bouquets should be nothing short of the classic and timeless kind of posies. Her bouquet would consist of pastel colors, pink hues, and apricots that would make it the perfect finishing touch to her gown that is just as traditional. These brides believe that less is more and that everything classic and timeless would always be in fashion.

August was a busy month for celebrity weddings! It’s always fun to take a look at what the rich and famous do with their nuptials, (especially with their flowers!) and we can glean a little inspiration along the way. Here’s how a famous comedic actor, a Brazilian supermodel, and a singer/ producer celebrated their special wedding days– enjoy!

Kevin Hart and Eniko Parrish

Photo from hellomagazine.com

The comedian tied the knot on sunny August 13 in Santa Barbara, California, after dating Parrish for almost seven years. The couple tied the knot in front of 200 guests. Several of their wedding photos were taken in gazebo on the grounds, framed by greenery and white blooms. Hart’s children certainly helped make the day special and his eight-year-old son Hendrix was best man. We also loved the floral crown that Hart’s daughter Heaven wore in her hair.

Eniko wore two stunning Vera Wang gowns at her event. She was married in a gorgeous mermaid style gown with lace appliques and a flared tulle skirt. She later changed into a second dress for the reception, which Wang herself describes as having “sumptuous hand placed French Chantilly lace appliqué artfully contoured along the whole gown.” One description that comes to mind: “super sexy!”

The carnival was in town for this superstar wedding: guests at the after party were treated to rides on a ferris wheel and a merry-go-round as well as games and treats. (Ludacris seemed pretty happy with his win of a stuffed animal.) All the attendees, including the groom, seemed to enjoy the big party atmosphere.

For beautiful white centerpieces, try Wild at Heart pre-made arrangements, and add stunning bulk cream roses for extra wow factor at amazing prices.

 Isabeli Fontana and Diego Ferrero

A sexy and sheer wedding dress/ swimsuit coverup is just the thing when you are a super sexy Brazilian supermodel and former Victoria’s Secret angel. Isabeli Fontana proved it when she wed her boyfriend of three years, Diego Ferrero, on a beach at the Soneva Fushi resort, Maldives. Their invitations included a message bottle and seashells as a sweet nod to the beach venue, and the cake topper was made in their images.

RayJ and Princess Love

Photo from Pharris Photography

It was a fairytale wedding for RayJ and Princess in their sometimes tumultuous relationship that many of us have enjoyed on VH1′s Love and Hip Hop: Hollywood.

The singer, songwriter and music producer, 35, married his real life Princess at the Vibiana in Los Angeles on August 12. His father officiated at their ceremony. Princess wore a flowing Lazaro gown. At the reception the couple enjoyed a lavish cake boasting seven tiers. RayJ’s famous sister Brandy sang a gorgeous rendition of At Last for their first dance in a truly romantic and personal element.

Even the usually stoic RayJ got emotional at the event., saying to PEOPLE magazine, “Watching Princess walking down the aisle … when I heard the music and I saw her come down, I lost it. I was like, I’m just gonna let it go and enjoy the love and positive emotion. I got real happy as the tears dropped.”
