Summer is always a peak time for celebrity weddings! With the warmer weather and better travel opportunities we all enjoy more parties, and our DWTS celebrity dancers are no exception. Read on to enjoy the highlights!

Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich

The popular actress and DWTS alumni (and now judge) married her NHL star on Saturday, July 8. Julianne, 29, wed Brooks, 34, in an beautiful outdoor evening ceremony in Idaho. The couple arrived by boat at around 6 p.m.

Julianne looked gorgeous in her custom $20K Marchesa gown with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and a cathedral-length gown, while her GQ-worthy groom rocked his Brooks Brothers tuxedo. They couple made their vows in front of 200 family and friends at the Coeur D’Alene Resort and even included their dogs Lexi and Harley (looking dapper in flowered collars) in the celebration.

And our fave part of any celebration — the flowers — was also spectacular! The couple chose primarily roses and tulips and included flower boxes filled with a flowers and grasses. The flowers were done by Kristen Griffith-VanderYacht of Wild Bloom. The outdoor reception was enjoyed by many guests and featured a cocktail hour, catering by Le Catering, and a special mirrored dance floor. The event concluded with a wonderful fireworks display to cap off the happy celebration.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd

Dancers Maksim and Peta also tied the knot on Saturday July 8, but in Long Island, New York at the amazing, storybook Cheka Castle. Their ceremony was also outdoor and featured beautiful white flowers and fabric to add a breezy air.

Peta’s beautiful ivory ball gown-style dress suited the castle venue, as did Maksim’s handsome white suit jacket. The couple even got to enjoy a rainbow that miraculously appeared in the sky during the later photographs. Peta made her way down the aisle after the couple’s five-month old son was carried down the aisle as “Prince of Honor.”

Pippa Middleton, sister to Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, rocketed to the top of the social media world for her first walk down the wedding aisle back in 2011. At that event she was maid of honor, holding her sister’s train and following the royal bride down the aisle, while spectators world wide started commentary on her — ahem–derrière.

This time in the spotlight, Pippa, 33, walked the aisle as the bride, and on May 20 she wed financier James Matthews at her local church, St. Mark’s in Englefield. The reception was held back at her parents’ lavish Berkshire home.

Some of her royal connections served in the wedding, with Prince George as page and Princess Charlotte as flower girl. Her sister Kate helped keep the children in order as they entered the church. The entry was adorned with gorgeous garlands of pink and white flowers and greens, adding the perfect fairy tale touch to the heritage venue.

The guest list, though much smaller than her sister’s, did contain some famous faces. Roger Federer was in attendance as well as Ben Fogle, and of course Pippa’s extended Royal family, including Prince William and Prince Harry.

The church and its grounds were absolutely filled with gorgeous pink and white flowers! Pippa loves flowers and made beautiful selections including peonies, roses, sweetpeas, freesias, waxflower, and green bellflowers for a truly stunning mix. Another intimate personal touch was a drawing of the church, done by her sister Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, included on the cover of the order of service.

The couple departed the ceremony is a vintage car, framed by yet more floral masterpieces that are visible in the background.

If you loved Pippa’s wedding flowers as much as we did, you can buy your own bulk flowers in similar shades and types and make your own. You can also order beautiful ready-made bouquets and centerpieces in a similar pink and white theme. See below for some ideas!

Even the most ideal venue can have a few challenging elements. Whether your venue is drab or fab, flowers are a perfect way to dress your day!

Using fresh flowers to conceal things you don’t love, or enhance the things you do, is a perfect solution; the bonus is that you can add color, life and impact while complementing your theme at the same time. Buy in bulk from a reputable online vendor and you will be surprised how much you can do, for an amazing price.

Check out these great tips for using flowers to make sure all the elements of your venue are at their very best.

Fountains

If the entrance to your wedding or event has a fountain, consider not having predictable water running full out from each tier. Adding fresh flowers to a tier instead of water converts a traditional concrete element into an instant style statement. This is sure to get your guests talking as they walk up to your big event. Try hydrangeas, snapdragons and longer greens like seeded eucalyptus.

Trees

If there is a tree that you don’t love, or perhaps a few that you do, use fresh flowers to add an aerial focal point. The pops of color will brighten the bark and enhance your wedding theme if you go for a coordinating look. These hanging pomanders (kissing balls) are perfect in this outdoor venue. Click to find out more about floral pomanders.

From Country House Wedding Venues

Staircases

If your venue has a staircase, don’t overlook it! Enhance it with the addition of a garland of greens and/or fresh blooms in softly coordinating hues. Adding candles and other creative touches is another way to add impact and guest enjoyment. A simple staircase can become something truly breathtaking!

Hidden Garden Floral Studio

Chandeliers

Don’t forget the overhead light fixtures at your venue. Some of these can be pretty drab and dull. Hide the metal and add life and color to what is usually strictly utilitarian by draping your favorite fresh flowers and greens for a stunning visual display. Click to read more about Floral Chandeliers.

Swimming Pool

If your venue contains a pond or a swimming pool, don’t miss the opportunity to add more flowers to play up this feature. You can buy floating boards of styrofoam and plastic to hold beautiful floral centerpieces. Use hearty flowers such as ferns, daisies, mums, and lilies. Another idea is to float pomanders or even just to scatter rose petals or carnation tops on the water’s surface.

Walls

Let’s face it, walls at the venue can be bare and drab without some added “wow” factor. Don’t overlook some added pizazz for any wall located behind a key element of your celebration, such as the cake or dessert table, bride and groom table, gift table or a bar. Create a lovely backdrop by using flowers to make a flower accent piece. Another fun idea is to tape flowers, stem and all, to a backdrop, for a simple yet so interesting touch!
