Age is no detriment to love and romance, and we definitely saw this with the very chic and simple wedding of former supermodel Jerry Hall to Australian media mogul Rupert Murdoch.

Jerry Hall, 59, was well known for her glamorous modelling career and her relationship with Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger, with whom she shares four children. Rupert Murdoch, 85, was born in Australia to a family that owned several newspapers. He is best known for his global media empire and his creation of FOX Broadcasting in 1986, to name only one of his larger American conquests. He has six children and has been married three times previously.

The somewhat unexpected couple met last summer in Australia and apparently “clicked” immediately. They began to share increasing amounts of time and were spotted together at several key events during the fall. They spent New Year’s Eve together on a yacht in the Caribbean together with some of their children.

Their wedding took place on Friday March 4, in a small ceremony attended by only a handful of close friends and family. The second event took place Saturday with a private civil ceremony at the beautiful St. Bride’s Church in London. Guests included Sir Bob Gelfof and Sir Michael Caine as well as various members of Mick Jagger’s extended family. The couple’s various daughters served as bridesmaids and flower girls and wore different shades of blue. Wedding flowers were white, with the groomsmen sporting white rose boutonnieres. Rupert’s two youngest daughters, Grace and Chloe, carried charming wicker baskets that included ivy, white roses, white spray roses, and delicate white stephanotis.

Mariah Carey announced her engagement on January 21 to mega-billionaire James Packer, and knowing Mariah’s over-the-top personality this wedding is looking to be bigger than some royal nuptials. According to RadarOnline.com, Mariah “wants it to be the most expensive wedding of all time,” in a celebration to rival that of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Packer proposed to her on her home turf of Long Island, New York.

Photo from abcnews.go.com

Other sources suggest that Mariah wants a summer wedding, and that boyfriend James is picking up the entire tab. Considering he is worth approximately $4.7B this is probably a fair plan. Her engagement ring is stunning: a massive diamond approximately 35 carats in size worth a reputed $8M, from jeweler Wilfredo Rosado.

Photo from XPosure.com ukdaily.co.uk

The pair have been dating since June 2015 and reportedly fell in love last summer when Mariah, 45, visited James, 48, on his super yacht, Arctic P., off the coast of France.

Photo from People.com

The couple spent Christmas vacation in Aspen and enjoyed time with Mariah’s four-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, her children with former hubby Nick Cannon.

New rumors are now circulating that the pricey pair want to be married in Australia, where casino-owner Packer is from, or else in the south of France. to pay homage to where they met. (These are the kinds of problems to have!). Packer hails from a media mogul family and is reputed to be one of the richest men in the country.

There is little doubt that wherever the couple decides to wed, Mariah will hire the best wedding planners and expect top service and a spectacular event.

Even in her first wedding, to Sony exec Tommy Monroe, she spent a reported half million, which translates to abuot $800k in today’s dollars. We can only imagine the virtually unlimited budget she has for this wedding.

According to the latest sources, Mariah wants thousands of white roses and lots of bling at the event.  White roses are always a stunning choice! If you love white roses but don’t happen to have a billionaire budget, BunchesDirect has lots of options for you.

Just because you’re a celebrity doesn’t mean you don’t feel that stomach jangling mixture of fear and excitement when it comes time to set up a marriage proposal! Celeb guys might have access to expensive rings, and pricey destinations and other glamorous embellishments but they still feel the pressure to pop the big question in a way that is beautiful and unique. Celeb gals are still over-the-moon with the excitement and happiness of the moment and they want to share the news and bragging rights soon after the ring lands on their finger.

What’s not to love about a romantic proposal story? In honor of Valentine’s month we take a look at some of the best celebrity proposals!

Taylor Kinney proposed to Lady Gaga on Valentine’s Day 2015, during a snowy night in Manhatttan.  “First he gave me a Ring Pop. That was kind of amazing and I was crying, I was so excited,” she told Access Hollywood at the Oscars. “And then he pulled out the heart-shape diamond. First it was candy. I was happy with the candy.”

She posted a photo of her heart-shaped engagement ring on Instagram.

Seal went all out for his proposal to Heidi Klum in 2004. He took Heidi for a helicopter ride over the dramatic Canadian Rockies. When the helicopter landed high atop a glacier there was a specially built igloo waiting with all the trimmings. Seal proposed and presented Heidi with a stunning 10 carat canary diamond ring. Heidi spoke about the event later, saying “He had an igloo built there, and they’d brought up everything: a bed with sheets inside the igloo, rose petals everywhere, candles. Very, very romantic!” She went on: “There was food and champagne, and then the helicopter left. It was a little scary, too, because you’re so cut off from the world. No trees, nothing — it was hardcore. But I was ecstatic. Too bad their marriage, like this igloo, eventually melted!

Kanye popped the question in October 2013 and gifted Kim with a 15-carat diamond ring from jeweler Lorraine Schwartz. For the big event, Kanye rented out A & T Park in San Francisco—yes the entire park! There were about 100 guests in attendance and the event was filmed for an episode of KUWTK. The stated reason was to celebrate Kim’s 33rd birthday, but during the party he had the words “PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!!” flash up on the Jumbotron. The over-the-top proposal set the scene for their incredible wedding in Florence, Italy, the following May.

Music executive Jordan Bratman proposed to singer Christina Aguilera in a hotel room in Carmel, California. Josh filled the room with rose petals and gift boxes, each containing a present and a self-penned poem. The pair first met when he worked for her management company. Christina opened the last box, and discovered a gorgeous five carat diamond. Jordan then went down on one knee and popped the big question.  Unfortunately this is another wonderful proposal  but sadly the marriage itself wasn’t as enduring.

Actor Dean McDermott proposed to Tori Spelling after a long carriage ride down a path lit with twinkling Christmas lights. At the end of the path the pair enjoyed a romantic tryst at a table set up among Christmas trees. Dean then proposed to Tori with a beautiful diamond and sapphire ring. Despite some pretty dramatic ups and downs, the couple are still married and share four children together and they claim they are more in love than ever.

Bill proposed to Guiliana during helicopter flight over Chicago. He told her they were going to be looking at Christmas lights. He surprised her with the proposal, along with champagne and Guiliana’s favorite food, Giordano’s deep-dish pizza!

Popular American Idol alum Colton Dixon married in Nashville this month, to his lovely girlfriend Annie Coggeshall. Chrisitian singer Colton, 24 and Annie, 27, tied the knot in a black tie ceremony on Friday January 8 after three years as a couple. The event took place at the Scarritt Bennett Center before 160 of their friends and family.

Photo from Gospelherald.com

People.com provided several exclusive photos of the wedding, and described it as having both “fantasy” and “fairytale” elements. Apparently the fairytale began with the couple’s romantic September engagement at Disney World (Colton even hid the engagement ring in Cinderella’s glass slipper).

Photo from People.com

The “fantasy” element came into play based on Colton’s love for batman and other comic book heroes. Apparently Colton even has a life-sized batman costume at his home. Colton’s mother Teresa gifted her son and his groomsmen with superhero t-shirts to wear under their wedding attire, adding a wonderful playful and personal touch to the couple’s beautiful day.

Photo from ok.co.uk

Annie wore a stunning strapless organza gown by (who else?) renowned designer Vera Wang, that was truly Cinderella-worthy. Colton’s sister Schyler Dixon shared her own snaps, with the caption ” “Beautiful bride #coltannwedding.” She also performed the gospel favorite How Great Thou Art during the ceremony.

Colton admits that he wept when he first saw Annie come down the aisle. During the ceremony, romantic Colton then serenaded his new bride with Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love.

The couple’s exit at the end of the night included another fairytale element: Colton and Annie departed together in (of course) a horse-drawn carriage totally reminiscent of a classic Cinderella coach. If you loved Annie’s bridal bouquet, you can certainly get the look for less with BunchesDirect. Try Together We Stand or Cheerful Blast with Wild at Heart Centerpieces, to complete your own fairytale florals.

We wish Annie and Colton all the best as they start their married lives!

There is often something special about a country wedding. Whether it’s the more relaxed informality, the venue where Mother Nature usually plays a bigger part of the event, or the many down-home touches, a country wedding will almost certainly provide you and your guests with fond memories. Popular venues for a country wedding vary widely, from rustic farms, elegant vineyards, relaxed gardens, tranquil forests, or scenic mountaintops  Anything goes so long as it has a more rustic, outdoor connection.

The flowers are an important decor element in any wedding and certainly this is true for country events. Choose flowers that are less formal and fussy to reinforce your country theme. Excellent choices include daisies, chrysanthemums, sunflowers, baby’s breath, roses, carnations, gerbera daisies, ranunculus, or hydrangeas.

Wooden accents can add to the “country” vibe in conjunction with your wedding flowers. Use more informal vases such as these mason jars set on top of wooden tree trunk trays to add to your rustic look. These daisies and yellow craspedia are the perfect choice for flowers.

Nancy Ray Photography

Another way to incorporate some wooden accents: place wooden “stumps” or wine barrels along your wedding aisle, whether indoors or out, and top with beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers and greenery.

Jane Medley Flora Design

You could also use wooden ladders to create a wonderful frame for your vows. The rustic informality of the wood provides good contrast to the delicacy of the flowers and gives your venue a relaxed touch. Roses or carnations in various pastel colors work well. Try seeded eucalyptus or leatherleaf fern for more casual looking greens.

Lillian Prince Photography

Buy some bulk flowers such as simple carnations and perhaps some baby’s breath, add a piece of fabric in your theme color, and wrap with burlap to create your own country rustic boutonnieres. (See more ideas like this at Great American Country).

Galvanized metal buckets, wine bottles, woven baskets or even old cowboy boots are other creative ways to display your country wedding flowers. These buckets filled with simple but beautiful baby’s breath frame the aisle chairs and create the perfect (and extremely budget friendly!) rustic accent for the bride’s grand entrance.

Sunflowers are always a wonderful choice for a country wedding! Their cheery relaxed look is a perfect complement to a barn or farm venue.

Photo from GreatAmericanCountry.com

Table settings can be more relaxed at farm weddings, making your guests feel right at home. Use casual tableware and glassware with colorful linens, or even old quilts. Choose simple bouquets of flowers such as these yellow roses and white stock to stay in keeping with the more casual vibe. You can also choose a pre-made country centerpiece—just trim the stems to fit your container of choice.

Mason jars can serve many functions at a country wedding (you can even use them to serve your signature cocktails). Wrapped in lace and wired for hanging, they are a sweet decorative touch when strung from tree branches, arbors, gazebos or other elevated areas. Try a mix of bright casual flowers such as purple dahlias or ranunculus, pink carnations, purple alstroemeria, and white chrysanthemum daisies.

Pretty bouquets of mixed bloomes can also provide the perfect more informal touches to your wedding party. Opt out of formal or fussy cascading bouquets with a lot of symmetry and structure and keep things more relaxed.
